Search Field

GarageSale offers a powerful search function. To use it simply enter your search term in the search field on the toolbar. GarageSale will start searching immediately and display the search results.

Search Options

By clicking on the little magnifying glass in the search field you open the search options.

• To search in all fields make sure that All fields is selected.
• You can restrict your search to certain fields, depending on which mode you are in, e.g. you can search the item title only or the SKU – or both.
• Show exact matches only: This option only returns items that match the order of your search string.
• Whole word search: Enable this option if you want to search for a whole word only. Sample: Searching for “ABC12” won’t return items with “ABC123” if you have this option enabled.
• Sort results alphabetically does exactly what it says.
• Restrict results to selected group: This allows you to limit the search to the group you currently have selected. If you don’t have a group selected this option is not available.
• Hide results from trash: Items in your trash bin will be ignored.
• Only start searching on Return: Normally, GarageSale starts searching immediately while you are still typing. If you do not want this, activate this option so that GarageSale waits for you to press the Return key on your keyboard an then starts the search.

Good to know

You can always combine a search with the “Filter by Title” field at the bottom of the left outline view.
